Training

Identifying and recruiting the best supervisory and count staff is of course key to Orridge’s success as a quality supplier. A training programme and ongoing developmental support of the selected employees is equally important.

Each Orridge regional team includes a recruitment and training officer, employed specifically to develop the skills of both supervisors and stocktakers.

All new recruits engage in an initial training programme then, once successfully completed, the employee is regularly assessed during a trial period in live stocktake environments. To ensure the introduction of new staff has no adverse effect on service delivery, the use of trainees for each count is kept to a minimum and those applied are intensively monitored until their training period is successfully completed. This process is made possible through the use of count team mentors on site.

Furthermore, the training and recruitment officers strive to identify those within the regional teams that have potential to progress further, supporting Orridge’s policy of promoting from within whenever possible.

Through an efficient training and assessment programme and staff support structure Orridge is able to maintain the strong workforce its customers need.
